About a month ago I was asked to be a part of a super special project…the SwimSpot Fit Specialist photoshoot (you may have seen some behind the scenes snaps on Instagram!). The amazing folks at SwimSpot brought together six women of different shapes and sizes for a campaign that promotes body positivity and helps individuals find the perfect swimsuit for their body type. Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of something so powerful!
I am ALL about body positivity and don’t fit the (usual) size 2 blogger body. I’m quite petite at 5’2 with a small top half and a fuller bottom half. My arms and shoulders have always been naturally thin and I typically wear a size XS/2 in tops. But, I’ve always struggled with my lower body…finding the right fit for jeans, shorts and skirts with my thicker thighs and big butt.
With age I’ve learned to embrace my figure and with experience I’ve learned how to best dress for it! When it comes to swimwear I knew instantly that high-waisted bottoms were my best friend. It was only a few years ago that they became popular but I was hooked immediately. The high-waist cut accentuates my tiny waist and tucks in my tummy so I can avoid the dreaded “tummy rolls”. The cut also makes my legs look miles long which is a huge plus for shorties like me! As for bikini tops…I’m pretty much fair game. I tend to lean toward off the shoulder styles that highlight my collarbone and shoulders.
I highly highly highly suggest visiting the SwimSpot Fit Specialist page here and finding the right swimsuits for your body type based on six real women, with real bodies! I hope this post inspires you to be confident in your skin, in your swimwear and in yourself!
